Social Medial Happy Hour : Blogger Series
GreenPalateLife is now almost 3 years old (!!!) It’s crazy to think of where I started vs where I am now. My posts have changed, my creativity levels have increased, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised that no matter how much time has past, there is always going to be something new and interesting to cover. (Yes, that was a big fear of mine when I first started out!)
As my blog continues to grow, I’m finding that I’m getting asked a lot more my tips and tricks to keep my blog going. These questions range from the basics of my advice to people thinking of starting a blog, to more complex questions, such as how to actually design a blog, what databases I prefer, how to grow your follower count, the best SEO tips, how much of an income blogs can actually bring in, as well as products that I use and recommend for obtaining a professional look.
Rather than try to cover everything within one specific post, I thought starting a Blogger Series for “Helping You Grow as a Blogger” would be the best way to get every and all questions covered.
In case you missed it: Check out Part 1 of my Helping You Grow as a Blogger Series: What to Consider Before Starting a Blog.
{This is part 2 of my blogger series! I will be updating you all periodically with tips on getting started with blogging. If you’d like me to cover a specific topic or have any questions you’d like me to answer, please feel free to write them in the comment section!}
In this part of the series, I’m going to be covering how you can help your blog grow organically. Social media is a perfect outlet for getting your blog seen on multiple platforms and bring in new sets of eyes and readers every day. Sure, advertising your content and certain posts helps, but this is the most beneficial topic for social media marketing because: it is completely free.
From the post: Top 10 Motivational Quotes
You want to be taking advantage of any outlet available to you to grow your blog family, and the most cost effective it is, the more it will benefit you down the road. Not to mention, everyone and their mother is on social media these days.
I’m going to be completely transparent, not only in this post, but throughout this entire series. I feel as bloggers, we should be sharing information that will help each other, not keep it to ourselves. I think there is a common fear in the blogging world that if you’re sharing tips that work for you, or mentioning another blogger that you love yourself, somehow everyone else will obtain your followers and you will be somehow cut short. So, I’m going to blunt here: the more you share the wealth and love for your blogger family, the more love will be returned to you in the long run.
So, have questions? Ask away. I am literally an open book on this topic. 🙂
While it would be awesome if you could just create your blog, write your posts, and people would magically find you, that is not the case. You will need to dedicate some time into marketing your brand, your blog, and your overall persona as a blogger.
The 4 main social platforms that you should be on and utilizing every day:
- Create a Facebook business page that is all about your blog
- Pinterest ; I just use a personal one branded to myself, as well as my blog
- Instagram ; I have both a personal one that I post certain posts to, as well as a blog account
- Twitter ; I just use a personal one branded to myself, as well as my blog
Remember, nobody cares as much about your blog as you do. This is your baby/brand/passion so market it as such. Of course, this doesn’t mean be in your face and annoying with posts, but give others the outlet to find your content on multiple platforms around the web.
This is the general schedule I try and stick with each day:
Remember, consistency is key. One day all your hard work and dedication will pay off! Be proud of your work and put aside the time to really make it professional and flourish.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to comment below.
