Hey there! I’m not an expert here, but I am a huge advocate of listening to your body and finding what is best & works for you! This method has personally worked wonders for my physical health (as of mid October 2018, I’ve lost 32 lbs) and my mental health + clarity have never been better. I highly suggest playing around with foods and fasting to see what makes you feel and function at your very best! xx, Melissa March 2017 - July 2018 Truthfully, I started to practice intermittent fasting before I even knew it was a thing. DJ had done intermittent fasting with some workout program he was focusing on a year or so prior, but besides me knowing the name of what he was doing, I did little-to-no research on the…

Hey, friends! Welcome to my weekly meal prep! Each week, to make sure I'm staying on top of my health and budget goals, I will create a meal plan and then spend a few hours on Sundays prepping for the days to come. Meal prepping is amazing; it saves me so much time and money. I prep enough food for Monday breakfast to Friday midday (post-workout). I leave my Friday nights & weekends free but keep staples in my house, such as eggs and extra veggies, so I can make quick meals when needed. [Want more inspiration? Check out my week ONE and week TWO and week THREE menus!] I eat 5-6 small meals each day, roughly every 3-4 hours. This way, I never feel overly full or hungry; I'm content and have consistent energy. By eating…

And just like that, we've come to day 7 of my 7 days of Super Bowl goodies series! This week just flew by and really refocused my motivation to play around in the kitchen and post new recipes on a more consistent basis! As a series finale, I thought I'd end it on a sweet note while keeping it nice + healthy (not that I don't adore you, slow cooker lava cake) with some protein fudge! As far as protein powders go, I love the taste of chocolate Shakeology in baking. [I used it in these chocolate covered almond protein balls too!] I always go through a friend to buy Shakeo, and if you're looking to get some, you can find it HERE! If the price is a little too high…
I'm at a loss for words on how to preface this recipe. It's not even close to healthy (unlike these chocolate peanut butter brownies). BUT, it's good for the soul; and I'm all about those soulful indulgent once-in-a-time recipes. I have full on heart-eye emojis over here just thinking back on this slow cooker chocolate lava cake. It was seriously amazing; and knew, even though I try to center this blog around living healthy, that I had to share it with you all. Plus, a little lava cake is perfect for days that you save your treats for; aka: this years Super Bowl. I made this cake for a co-workers birthday. I'm huge on bringing crock pot recipes because I can prep the ingredients beforehand, but allow it to cook during the…
So, you're in a pinch for time and need to bring a dish to share or need some ideas on simple Thanksgiving dishes to prepare for the big day? You're not alone! I am queen of holiday procrastination, but I really loath showing up anywhere without a dish in hand, so while all of these recipes are quick, they are also huge crowd favorites! Are you getting into anything special for Thanksgiving this year? My mom + sister are coming down to visit and we're heading over to a good friend's house for the day. Thanksgiving to me is all about friends, family, football, and wayyyy too many mashed potatoes consumed. ;) What reminds you most of t-day? I hope whatever you find yourself getting…
I've been a tad obsessed with smoothie bowls lately. If you've never had a smoothie bowl before, they're exactly what they sound like! I always use frozen bananas as my base, add in any other frozen fruits I'm feeling, then get crazy with some toppings. :) The other day, Dj and I got home pretty late, so I didn't want to eat anything too heavy for dinner. I decided to play around with a new combo for a smoothie bowl and it was AMAZING. Luckily, I thought to snap a picture before digging in, so while this post doesn't have as many step by step pictures as my posts usually do, I can still share it! 1-2 frozen bananas 1/2 - 1 cup of frozen cherries 1 tablespoon cocoa powder 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla…
