How To Order the Starbucks Purple Drink

how to order the starbucks purple drink

When it comes to coffee, I'm not too much of a snob. As long as it has caffeine and it doesn't taste burnt, I'm good to go. I've also been drinking coffee since the ripe old age of 5 (blame my grandparents) so I just generally love the taste of it. I love coffee so much that whenever I go to Starbucks, or any coffee shop for that matter, I don't even think to look at the other menu items. I'm also definitely one of those people that just neeeeeeds their morning cup of joe before I can function, and not to be completely dramatic here, but I'm pretty sure part of my blood type consists of coffee to a certain degree. ;) So when Starbucks launched their secret rainbow drink line, I wasn't…

What I’ve Been Up To Lately

Southern Tier Beer

I'm always shocked at how quickly time goes. I mean, it feels like it was just yesterday I packed up my things in West Virginia and moved to Florida, but here we are, just hitting over our year & a half mark. Sometimes, it nice to just pause and reflect on what's going on with you right now. As a whole, I think we tend to always be thinking in the future; "I have to study now so that I can get into a good school. I need to go to a good school and obtain a degree so that I can provide for a family I do not have yet.." And so on and so on. I'm not saying preparing for the future is a bad thing, I'm simply stating that it's nice…

Instagram Round Up! vol. 2

Eating Out Healthy

I realize not alllll of you have Instagram [although I’m extremely obsessed with it and don’t understand how not everyone can not be 😉 ], so I thought I’d share with you all some of my simple go-to’s I typically reserve for my Insta! {In case you missed it, you can find my first Instagram Round Up here!} While I love to cook, I also love to go out to eat. I enjoy the whole atmosphere of getting out with your friends and not needing to worry about cooking, cleaning, and ensuring everyone likes the food. When going out, I try to keep my choices light since typically restaurants pack calories into their meals. Deerwood Bistro is my favorite breakfast & lunch spot in Jacksonville. Here I ordered their curry chicken salad in a spinach wrap…

Welcome to Miami!

This weekend was all about salt in the air & sand in our hair! If you follow me on Instagram [which you really should! ;) ] you would have seen that we went down to Miami Beach for the weekend. I've only been to South Beach once with my college roommate, Aubrey, but that was when we were 20 years old, and I knew I had to experience Miami again now that I'm living 4.5 hours away and of age! Since creating my  Summer Bucket List, I've been dedicated to complete it and Miami was #7 on that list! The water in Miami is so beautiful! I hadn't seen water this clear since visiting Greece & am still in awe that this beach is located in America. Don't get me wrong, America is filled…

Refreshing My Mind; Amelia Island [pt. 2]

Amelia Island Florida

Another awesome thing about Amelia Island is that you're able to drive your car & ride horses right on the beach! Our horses loved one another & walked through the ocean; it was an amazing experience. {If you missed my part 1 Amelia Island recap, you can read it here!} Oh, and guess what? Riding horses on the beach now knocks off my first 2015 Summer Bucket List challenge! After grabbing lunch, we headed down to the beach to meet up with Happy Trails, a company that runs this program. They have different hour time slots you can sign up for and trot on down the sand. Nicky, our tour guide, was so nice. She ensured that everyone felt comfortable (we had a small group of 4 people), and allowed us to go as slow or…

Refreshing My Mind; Amelia Island [pt. 1]

Sometimes, all you need is to get away and refresh your mind. It's been hard to find motivation lately. Whether it is challenging myself at work, working out as much as I'd like to, starting a new book, blog more, not procrastinate to the last minute on grad school assignments, pick up a new hobby... simply everything was just feeling a little "blah" lately. Of course, these ruts and moods don't last too long, typically, but I've found that getting away and some fresh air for your mind does wonders. Tucked away just under an hour outside of Jacksonville is Amelia Island, a historic state park located in Fernandina, Florida. With 13 miles of beautiful beaches, abundant native wildlife, and pristine waters, this barrier island was the perfect weekend getaway destination for Dj and I this…

Prepared for Warmer Weather: Drinks & Salads

When the weather begins to heat up, my food & drink preferences change. I no longer crave cooler weather comfort foods like soup or heartier meals, such as chili (even though it's delish). I begin to migrate towards salads, smoothies, iced coffee, cold wraps, hummus inspired dishes, lighter choices for everyday snacking, and plenty of fruits in different varieties! [My clothing choice also begins to lighten up. ;) ] The other day, it was 86 degrees & there was not a cloud in the sky. We went to one of my all time favorite Happy Hour spots, M Shack. I ordered the [above] drink which was a Green Tea Mojito. I love green tea, and I love mojitos, but together? That apprehensive curiosity quickly turned into die-hard love after one sip. This drink…

Happy Hour at Moxie; JAXploring

The past two weeks have been pretty busy. Dj was in Japan for work, I’m working on migrating my blog over to a Wordpress domain (more on this later), and I’m trying to finish applying for grad schools. This weekend, Dj came back, we had met new friends that just moved down to Florida, and the weather was beautiful! What this all calls for? Happy hours! Exploring different areas, trying out new restaurants, and getting together for drinks are all things I love to do. We started off our weekend after getting off work with meeting up with some friends atMoxie Kitchen & Cocktails. They actually do a happy hour on Fridays (surprising for around here), so I decided to test out a few new drinks. I started out with their Cucumber Collins, which…
