Weekends tend to fly by lately. It’s nice when one slows down a bit and you actually feel like you had some time off.

This past Labor Day weekend, my mom came down to Florida to visit for 3 days. We decided to go out to have a relaxing weekend in my favorite nearby vacation spot, Amelia Island.

On Friday, we stayed in Jacksonville and had dinner on the beach. It was nearly empty out and a beautiful night! Life really is better on the sea; it’s just so calming.

After dinner & Sweet Frog, we spent the night hanging out with wine and Netflix. We woke up early the next morning to head to the island.

One of my mom’s friends has a condo right with a private beach & pool! If I was a golfer, this would be my paradise.

My mom’s been traveling a lot lately for work, and I’ve been so go-go-go lately, that we really just wanted to spend some time together relaxing on the sand. I’m about 1/2 through my latest read, Paper Towns. It’s really good! A perfect light beach book.

It’s nice to have a weekend to block out time to just relax. I haven’t done that in SO long.

Amelia Island is pretty secluded but has a historic town about 10 minutes away. We spent our days relaxing by the ocean and hit the town for dinner.

Our first night, my mom wanted to try their local oysters. It was my first time eating them and I got so sick 🙁 I read that if your stomach isn’t used to food like that (I hardly ever eat seafood except shrimp), it can really effect it. Needless to say, I will not be eating oysters again! Has that ever happened to any of you?
