Prepared for Warmer Weather: Drinks & Salads

d5

When the weather begins to heat up, my food & drink preferences change. I no longer crave cooler weather comfort foods like soup or heartier meals, such as chili (even though it’s delish). I begin to migrate towards salads, smoothies, iced coffee, cold wraps, hummus inspired dishes, lighter choices for everyday snacking, and plenty of fruits in different varieties! [My clothing choice also begins to lighten up. 😉 ]

The other day, it was 86 degrees & there was not a cloud in the sky. We went to one of my all time favorite Happy Hour spots, M Shack.

I ordered the [above] drink which was a Green Tea Mojito. I love green tea, and I love mojitos, but together? That apprehensive curiosity quickly turned into die-hard love after one sip. This drink would be super simple to recreate!

All it is: Bacardi Limon, fresh mint, and lime juice shaken up then topped with green tea! Talk about easy.

My summer Starbucks obsession includes this iced coffee drink, but also their Peach Green Tea (w/ half the peach sweetener). Perfect to grab on a day of shopping in the sunshine!

I just recently discovered my obsession with Suja. Their drinks are cold pressed, vegan, and GMO free! I found this at Target for under $3.00, but I think it would also be pretty easy to recreate. This drink is made to drink before sleeping, to help curb your sweet tooth, but I had it for breakfast the other day and was completely satisfied.

Along with all things light and cold comes salads! The above salad I ordered from Zoe’s Kitchen. It’s their garden salad & fruit salad topped with a scoop of their homemade chicken salad! Have you ever eaten chicken salad with fruit? As you may remember, it’s one of my favorite things to do!

I’ve just started to fully embrace the kale salad trend. Before, I used to only run if someone was chasing me with a piece of kale. I learned that the secret is to massage the kale with your desired salad dressing for a good 3 minutes. Have you ever had a personal massage before? Work those hands and give your kale leaves a good rub down and it will soften it like lettuce!

This salad has kale massaged with rustic Italian dressing, dried craisins, grilled chicken, a hard boiled egg, cherry tomatoes, and pecans in it. Try it! It just may blow you away and pull you aboard the kale train.

What goes better with warmer weather than warmer colored hair? Excuse my messy room & duck lips but I’m loving what my hair stylist, Alex, chose for my color this summer!

The tips are almost white! You go, girl.

How do you prepare for the warmer weather? Do you switch up your eating, drinking, or clothing habits?
