Homemade Acai Berry Bowls

Weekends for us typically consist of eating out a lot. Wanting to give my bank account a break, I decided to challenge myself to use the weekends to try out new recipes I’ve been storing away and calculate just how much that ended up saving me!

I live in Florida, but am originally from California. I have a ton of family out West & one of my brothers is constantly sending me snapchats of Banzai Bowls. I was immediately curious, so I took to Google to find out just how to make these bowls of this tasty power food.

Since Acai Berry Bowls have not reached Florida (or I haven’t been able to find them anyway), I decided to try them out for myself.

Acai berries are jammed packed of antioxidants and are a great power food. They are heart-healthy, aid in weight loss, promotes healthy skin, and MANY other great benefits which you can read about HERE!

There are many different ways to make these bowls, but here is my recipe!

You Need:

  • ¾ cup acai juice
  • Ice
  • 1 kiwi
  • Handful of blackberries
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Shredded coconut

Other great topping options: bananas, granola, cereal, goji berries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, mango, oranges

In a food processor or blender, mix your acai juice and ice to reach your desired constancy. This would also be great with some added yogurt in it! It would create a more smoothie-like texture, which I will for sure do next time.

Once your juice is blended, pour it in a bowl, top with your desired mix-ins, and enjoy!

A typical Banzai Bowl costs around $8.75.

This bowl pictured above cost me $3.50

What would you top your bowls with?
