I love all things football. That’s one of the reasons that fall is my favorite season!
Yesterday, we had an away game, so all our friends got together to watch the game at home.
Instead of having only typical tailgating foods, I wanted to provide some healthy options, as well.
These apple “nachos” were a huge hit. They were literally the first dish gone! They are so simple to make, and only need three ingredients!
For a big platter of apple nachos, you need: *5 apples (I used three types for flavor variety- green, red, and pink lady) *One big dark chocolate bar *½ cup crushed up unsalted peanuts*
I prefer milk chocolate, but dark chocolate is a lot better for you, health-wise. Mixed with the peanuts and sweetness of the apples, I enjoyed the semi-sweet chocolate. 🙂
First, wash and slice your apples.
Dj helped me cut up the apples, didn’t he do a great job? 😉
Next, melt down the chocolate. If you have a chocolate melter, I’m jealous. Instead, I used a double boiler.
All you do is boil a small pot of water, and place your chocolate in a bigger pot above it. Make sure to keep an eye on the chocolate, it melts pretty quickly and you don’t want it to burn!
While the chocolate is melting, measure out ½ cup of the peanuts and put them in a baggie. Bang away with a metal/wooden/plastic spoon to crush them. 🙂
After your chocolate is melted, drizzle them on the sliced apples.
Dj tried his best to get a good picture of this, haha.
Finally, sprinkle on the peanuts and enjoy!
This only took a total of about 15 minutes, and cost only roughly $5.00. You really cannot beat this recipe!
Also, for 1/5 of this platter, it’s only 125 calories. 🙂
