DIY Vanilla Lavender Bath Bombs

It’s hard to believe Christmas is less than 5 days away. Last year, I had no problem getting into the holiday spirit– however, I think it is much easier when you are up north. Down here in Florida, it is currently 67 degrees and I have my windows open. While some may consider this ideal, when it comes to this time of year, I love the seasons! The snow fall, the scarves, starting a fire, drinking hot chocolate.. you get the gist.

Of course, Christmas isn’t waiting for me to get into the spirit, so I’m brewing hot tea in my Santa Claus mug and blasting Michael Buble’s Christmas album and hoping for the best.

One thing I never need to worry about being in the mood for is baking, crafting, or gift giving! I absolutely love it.

Last year, I made homemade candy cane and warm brown sugar vanilla sugar scrubs for my step mom and sisters. In lieu of this years #DIYChristmas, I wanted to create something that would be useful and people would actually want to use. My two youngest sisters, Quinn and Jordyn, are really into sports. Quinn loves volleyball & Jordyn loves to dance. Since they’re getting super intense about it, I thought something relaxing would be nice, and thus, these bath bombs were the perfect solution.

You Need:

Dry ingredients

  • Baking soda- 8 ounces
  • Citric acid– 4 ounces
  • Corn starch- 4 ounces
  • Salts- 4 ounces; I used epsom salts but Dead Sea Salts or mineral salts also work great

Wet ingredients

  • Water- 0.75 tbsp
  • Essential or Fragrance oil- 2 tsp; I used lavender and vanilla
  • Oil- 2.5 tbsp; I used regular vegetable oil
  • Food coloring; this is optional

In a large bowl (glass works best) mix all your dry ingredients.

Using a jar, mix up all your wet ingredients. Add it very slowly to the dry mixture. If bubbles start forming, quickly cover with the dry ingredients and pour a little slower.

Once it is all mixed, the mixture should resemble and feel like wet sand. Quickly fit the mix into your desired molds. I used Christmas ornaments that are plastic and come apart. I bought them at Michaels for $0.50!

The balls should dry pretty quickly. Transfer the bombs to any flat surface to fully dry and then they are good to go!

Pop in a warm bath with some candles and enjoy!
