DIY Body Scrubs! Cute & Quick Holiday Gift Idea

image

Well, it’s official.. I’m a college graduate! It’s a feeling I cannot put into words.. it’s extremely surreal.

I had so much fun this past week with my family coming to West Virginia. They live all over the world, so whenever we can all be together it’s always such a great time.

My boo. 🙂

Currently, I am sitting on my mom’s couch in her flat in London, England. She lives overseas and was able to come for the weekend, too! Morgantown was packed with my family and I loved it!

I have a pretty big family. When it comes to the holidays, it can be pretty draining on my college bank account. More than that though, I really enjoy personalizing gifts. I think that making your own shows that you put thought and time into the gift. The fact that it is also cost effective is just an added bonus. 🙂

This Christmas, for my step mom and two sisters, Quinn and Jordyn, I decided to make them some body scrubs!

I chose to make two different types; Warm Brown Sugar Vanilla for DeAnna, and Candy Cane for the girls.

First, the Warm Brown Sugar Vanilla Scrub!

You Need:

1 cup dark brown sugar *1 cup white sugar *4 tablespoons of Olive Oil or Sunflower Oil *2 tablespoons vanilla extract *1 jar or container *puffy paint to decorate*

To make things easier, I made the jars the day prior so that they had ample time to dry.

I wrote what exactly the scrub was on the front and their monograms on the lids!

First, blend the sugars together.

Next, add the wet ingredients and blend well. Add more oil if it is not “wet” enough. If you’re not sure, try some out on your arm or top of your hand.

image

Add the scrub to your jar! You may need to add more or less of the ingredients depending on the size of your container.

Now onto the Candy Cane Body Scrub!

You Need:

2 Cups of White Sugar (split into two bowls) *Red Food Coloring *4 Tablespoons of Olive Oil or Sunflower Oil *4 Tablespoons of Peppermint Extract*

image

Split the sugar into two separate bowls. One you will keep white and the other you are going to turn red- just like a candy cane! 🙂

image

To the white sugar bowl, add the oil and the peppermint extract.

In the red sugar bowl, add the oil, peppermint extract, and about 5-7 drops of red food coloring- just until you obtain your desired shade of red.

image

Although the white bowl will look a little yellow, once the sugar is alternating in a jar, it will look white… I promise!

Alternate the red and white in layers in the jar. Pack the scrub down so the colors do not mix together.

These scrubs are the perfect gift for all ages!

As always, message me any questions! Happy Holidays 🙂
