Happy Hour at Moxie; JAXploring

The past two weeks have been pretty busy. Dj was in Japan for work, I’m working on migrating my blog over to a Wordpress domain (more on this later), and I’m trying to finish applying for grad schools. This weekend, Dj came back, we had met new friends that just moved down to Florida, and the weather was beautiful! What this all calls for? Happy hours! Exploring different areas, trying out new restaurants, and getting together for drinks are all things I love to do. We started off our weekend after getting off work with meeting up with some friends atMoxie Kitchen & Cocktails. They actually do a happy hour on Fridays (surprising for around here), so I decided to test out a few new drinks. I started out with their Cucumber Collins, which…

Top 10 Cardio Songs & a New Workout Method!

"Cute-Nike-Workout-Gear"

Do you remember when I mentioned that I’m trying to jump up my activity level, but due to high pollen count (and simply taking so much time off from running) it was creating an issue of long, discouraging running times? Well! I have an update for you! I follow a ton of personal trainers// nutritionalists // foodies // fellow lifestyle bloggers on my Instagram where I was told a great tip when getting back into cardio. I saw it in a ton of comments, so I can’t remember exactly who said it (hate when that happens!) but she was a trainer who said that if you need to give your lungs a break (due to pollen), or if you are just getting back into running & trying to build your strength back up,  the most…

Book Reviews, My Life

What’s [currently] on my nightstand?

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies..” -George R.R. Martin I’ve always loved to read. Losing yourself in a different world is how I best describe it. I’m passionate about traveling, learning about new cultures, putting myself in unthought of situations; all I can also do while engrossed in a new book. I’ve done a few book reviews [like THIS one!] or [THAT one!], but thought I would take a different approach this post. I just finished my latest novel and wasn’t that impressed with it, so without boring you with a review as slow as the book, I’m deciding to opt out of that. Then, the other day when I was catching up on one of my favorite fashion/life/decor bloggers from my hometown of Washington D.C., Katie, she did a post…

Weekend Recap- Exploring Northern Florida

This weekend was definitely one for the books! My best roomie4L friend came to visit me from Pittsburgh for the weekend! Sara and I went to school at West Virginia University together, ended up on the same floor in our freshmen year dorms, signed a lease to live together our following year (without knowing each other AT ALL), and ended up being two peas in a pod. We lived together for the following 4 years, and make it a point to travel to one another every other month. To start the weekend off, we went to Saint Augustine; America’s oldest city! [I’m obsessed with this place, which you can read all about HERE!] The picture above shows us on the oldest street in all of America. How cool is that? It was gorgeous 72…

Today’s Finds: Colorful Crackled Wine Glasses

I can’t wait to share my weekend update with you all! I’m going to attempt to write that post after this one, but first things first- today’s shopping finds! These cute little glasses are just too cute to not share with you guys. I tend to wine a lot… ;) A few Valentine’s Days ago, Dj gifted me with these stemmed glasses, which I automatically fell in love with. They have the most unique details and the perfect pop of color to make them stay classy while standing out just the right amount. After finding they were from Pier 1 Imports (one of my favorite stores ever), I hopped in my car and found they also sold them in stemless! Of course, I needed the complete set, so I picked up a matching color…

A Valentines Day to Remember <3

This post is a little late, but I guess it’s better late than never. :) I love that Valentines Day fell on a Saturday this year! It was the perfect day here in Florida, consisting of beautiful 70 degree weather without a single cloud in the sky. It’s like Mother Nature knew Dj and I needed a day to just be together. First thing in the morning, we exchanged gifts. While most girls get flower bouquets for this special day, I get a cake pop bouquet. He just knows me tooooo well.. ;) Cake pops are my weakness! Especially these ones from Starbucks. It’s safe to say that I have my fix for awhile! We went to a quick lunch at our favorite go-to restaurant, Miller’s Ale House. We split the calamari and I…

Jason’s Deli; Workday Lunches

Jason’s Deli saves my life at least once a week. They have the biggest, most amazzzzzing salad bar. When you’re at work and need to run out and pick something up quick, it’s easy to think that a drive thru is the only way to go. With Jason’s they have the freshest food that you can be in and out of the door in 5 minutes- which is perfect for me! I love Whole Food’s salad bar, but they are sooo expensive. A typical salad from there ends up costing me an easy $15.00. At Jason’s, it’s one flat rate of under $8.00. This giant salad for about $7.50? Yes, yes, yes, please. Here I added: Romaine lettuce Spinach Hard boiled eggs Raw zucchini spears Red onion Peas Yellow bell peppers Beets Cucumbers Sun dried tomato…

Wedding Time! San Diego Bound

This past weekend, one of my oldest friends got MARRIED! It was so exciting. She asked me to be her maid of honor and I happily accepted & flew out to San Diego for a quick, but much needed weekend getaway to help celebrate her special day. I’ve mentioned before that I have a lot of family out in California, so I was able to spend Thursday night, all day Friday, and Saturday morning with my dad, step mom, and 2 precious sisters. My step mom, DeAnna, made me this awesome cappuccino on Saturday morning before Dj and I headed off to San Diego. Can you believe this is homemade? If she ever needed a new job, I think she has an obvious calling for Starbucks. ;) The wedding was located at a place…
